Get a lawyer and call corporate then fax them your service dog registry papers. By law, no company can deny a service animal. If you happen to get the employee's name down, mention it to the head office.

To those of you who are defending Walmart, take a look at this:

Nothing. If you didn't have your paper work with you to prove that your dog is a service dog, you would not have had a problem. One can register any dog as a service dog but it doesn't make them a service dog. Scamming the system never really works. The most important paper is the prescription from your Psychiatrist.

You couldn't prove your dog was a service dog & they refused to let the dog enter the store. I am glad they are cracking down on this, just too many scammers out there.

And what service is your "REGISTERED" service dog registered at? There is no government agency that registers service dogs that I know of. Though I don't think it's a bad idea to have such a database, as it would clear up a lot of the confusion over which dogs are legitimately service dogs and which ones are just pets.

Hello Shana,

Walmart's policy is to welcome into their stores any animal that is individually trained to assist a person with a disability.

My advice is to get the name of the manager of the Walmart store where you were denied the right to enter the store with your dog and contact Walmart's Head Office with a strong complaint and quote their own policy.

You will find the Walmart policy regarding service dogs at the link below together with other information:

Good luck

Because there is NO such thing as a "registered" service dog. Just because you bought FAKE papers online doesn't mean that you have a "right" to drag your PET into Walmart.

Nothing in reality......

Well the truth is there is no 'registry' for Service Dogs... Which indicates the registry for your Dog is much more than "dubious''

Id say they were well within their rights to refuse the Dog entry; therefore

The term Service Dogs takes in a huge cross section of Dogs also you see,

Dogs perform many services for different groups of people and individuals, They do in general have certification from the relative specialist organisation that trained them to perform that specific 'service' though...

Also what do you term to be 'Service Dog'? What service does it perform exactly....?

. For example a military I.E.D. Dog or attack Dog could be considered as a Service Dog.

As also can a mountain rescue Dog be considered a Service Dog

Just as Guide Dogs for the Blind are considered as Service Dogs... It's only the latter normally that is given the UNWRITTEN right of entry though

People who go around claiming they have service dogs are making life far harder for those who need and have real service dogs.... Our injured War vets for example, meanwhile have to suffer the consequences of their false claims,,,,,,,,,, Thats pretty screwed up in my eyes cos it's WRONG!

You should contact your Member of Congress and ask for assistance in filing a complaint with the appropriate government agency. You have a right, an absolute right to bring your service dog into any retail establishment. Good luck.

Legitimate service dogs aren't required to be registered but you'd know that if the dog was legitimate.

Contact the ADA for further info.

You have a pitbull, correct? At least that's what it says on your previous questions. Pit bulls are NOT allowed to come into a number of shops. I highly doubt a pit bull can be a service dog anyways, yours might be, but I certainly haven't ever heard of a pit bull being one, back to the point, you have a PIT BULL, you have a dog that has killed and injured the largest amount of people as a dog breed. I hope you can learn some common sense and understand why you weren't allowed to bring this dog in. Get a new service dog, get something like a Labrador or a Retriever, they're the most popular kind of service dogs, and they don't threaten people as much as pit bulls do. I don't have anything against pit bulls, I quite like them, but use your common sense if you have any. I also think your "service dog" mightn't even be a proper service dog, you're probably just portraying it as one.

You should write a letter to the head of the Walmart division and complain to them.

It isn't required that any papers be shown, nor can they legally be asked for. Call your city attorney with a quickness. They've been known to close businesses DOWN that didn't express remorse and retrain their employees. City, county, or state's attorney.Start with state.

Actually, you should have called the police at the time but hind sight is always 20/20 and the cops don't always know the law.

Talk to the manager immediately. If needed, you could go to someone with higher position and voice your complaints.

Sorry, but only dogs for the blind are allowed everywhere.

Service dogs have a bad rep because too many people are passing off their pets as 'service animals'.

I would think, that if you actually NEEDED a service dog....you would know that there is no registry for them.

Call to complain, get a lawyer, and gather evidence that your dog is indeed a service dog. Walmart's policy is that no service animal can be denied entrance for any reason. Notice i said animal, not dog, because a service animal can be any animal that is normally regarded as a pet, such as a bird, cat, hampster, etc. I work as a cashier, and i had to learn the policy on service animals as well as other policies. We are not legally allowed to deny entrance to, nor hinder the service of, any animal trained to serve a disabled person. I think someone was just bored and decided to be a d*** to the first person to walk through the door.

LOL! Registered with WHOM? There isn't a single legitimate registry for service dogs. Service dogs are only guide dogs for the blind, to detect seizures, etc. They are trained and may be licensed with a particular organization that did the training but there's no "registry".

What you have is just yet another bogus "Emotional Support Animal" and since you do not have a legitimate disability that REQUIRES this dog stores have EVERY right to refuse you to bring it in.

I'm also betting this dog isn't the least bit trained. If it was the store probably wouldn't have even questioned the fact you walked in with it. So get the hell over yourself and your NON service dog!
