i'm not really sure that i can appreciate this one, sorry. i am going to school to be a sign language interpreter with the deaf community here. the redeeming quality that i see is that, yes, deaf people can laugh whether they can hear or not... but the problem is that it is rather offensive to jest at a group of people in such a manner. deaf people are a very proud group, as they should be, for they are amazing in so many ways; ways that many hearing people could never compare to. the point is this: making jokes, whether funny to you and others or not, about a group of people that are unlike you, is a form of bigotry. i hope that you do not teach your college level students such intolerance.
