If your job is a federal job (you do sound like a Postal worker, I was one and I had the same problems you mentioned), you should contact Robert McGill:
I'm sure you should be able to find a state or private disablity attorney. They will answer general questions for free.
Hope this helps,

It is best that you go to your psychiatrist and ask. If your psychiatrist feels that you could qualify, then start the process for your disability retirement.

Your psychiatrist should be able to tell you whether you qualify for disability, as he knows your problem well and he knows the system.
Is it only this particular job that you feel terrified of or is it all jobs? If it's only this one then I doubt you would qualify for disability, they'd likely tell you to try another job first, but if you are unable to do any job due to panic attacks then your chances are better.
I recommend you consult with your psychiatrist. Good luck and I hope you'll feel better soon.
