I have epilepsy and when it was not controlled I had to wear a helmet when out of bed. However, a friend's toddler had hemophilia and he had to wear a helmet because any little knock or bump caused severe bleeding. There are two reasons. It's obviously to protect the head, indicating the person has some kind of problem that makes him or her much more prone to head injury.

Most times if a person has to wear a helmet, it is because they have some type of seizure disorder and the risk of injuring themselves if they fall can be reduced by protecting their head.

Some people have epilepsy a condition that trigger uncontrollable and unpredictable seize rs so if they have one they will be less likely to injure their head when they fall, some people with mental disabilities wear helmets because they my bang their head for a particular reason, some children and adults bang their head during fits or headaches. Some of THEM may have may have just came on their bikes. next time you should just ask the person they will probably tell you if you ask politely.

I know many people who wear helmets when they have a severe seizure disorder. Sometimes when people have seizures, they can fall...posing a serious risk...and sometimes the helmets steady the head during seizures.
And...going to those drug stores, teach them about budgeting, price comparison, and social interaction.
Be kind to them~!

If you are seeing people not on bicycles wearing helmets it is likely that they have severe epilepsy and they wear the helmets to protect themselves from injuries when they have a seizure.

if your talking about not on a bike or something its is probably from epilespy or have taken extreme head and brain trama and have to protect their head from any damage.
ex. a kid at my school once got into a serious bike accident with a car and took some serious head and brain damage and ever since has had to wear a helmet everywhere he goes. it is actually very sad so if you see someone wearing one then dont make a big deal out of it or make fun of it or anything like that. i know peple like that who would point and laugh at the kid and that just makes me sick

Kids & adults w/disabilities, especially those who are prone to loose their balance (seriously injuring themselves) must where helmets to prevent a brain injury. Epilepsy, etc.
