I was approved for a closed section of disability as I went back to work. I also am waiting for a replacement backpay check since it was sent to my old checking account. they will be mailing me a paper check, the request was sent on 11/5 and i have yet to receive my backpay which was sent to my bank on 11/3. How long does this take.

Auxiliary benefits are what social security calls benefits to children who are entitled on a parent's social security account in life cases. Why don't you ask the claims rep who is processing your claim? It can vary considerably depending upon backlogs. A claim filed in the office will be processed faster than a claim filed over the phone and via the mail. If worker's comp is involved that alone will add a good 60 days or more to the processing time. But in the normal situations once the claims rep makes input to award payment it takes the computer about ten days to process it and another ten to fourteen days to get the check to you. If you had direct deposit you would be receiving the benefit a good ten days earlier than by paper/mail.

With direct deposit you will know that your benefit will be in your bank account on the scheduled due date. This is not always the case with paper checks which can be delayed by the weather and who knows what else. Not too mention loss of checks or having paper checks stolen. All of which is avoided with direct deposit.

The benefits for your children are effective the same month your benefit is effective. In other words if your month of entitlement is Jan 2014 - their month of entitlement is Jan 2014 - regardless of when their claims are filed since you protected their filing date when you filed your application by naming them on your application.

I was told if I didnt come forward and ask about children's benefits we wouldn't have gotten any at all , how they figure the amount for my children is beyond me because we were told they go by a certain percentage of what im entitled too , which my benefit was 897 they said my children benefits were 248 I thought well we should be alright with them getting 456 and me 897 that would equal what I was bringing home before I became disabled, then the agent explained no your children will draw 124 each which I thought they would draw half of what I drew or am I wrong .it was about 3 months before I recieved backpay and it was all included together in one chk my kids and mine .
